Current president of Afghanistan has signed a new law that will legalised the rape of women in marriage by their husband and child marriage. Women will not be allowed to go out without accompanying a man from their family. Guardian describes it as "Worse than the taliban". It is surprising that an educated man like Hamid Karzai can take lead in making such a law. It raises a few questions on the presence of the occupied forces in Afghanistan.
Firstly, it is nearly impossible for the Afghan government to make such law when they are getting huge support from American and European community without consulting these countries. It seems that these countries have no hope to modernise the society of the Afghanistan or they have lost to Taliban. There have been some news in media that the US government is ready to cooperate with the Taliban. Recently US holds out olive branch to the non-violent Taliban during a conference in Hague. Now the strategy of the new US administration seems to cooperate with the Taliban.
Secondly, the occupied or allied forces in the Afghanistan claim to work for the restoration of democracy and human rights. If this kind of laws are being implemented in the country then the whole purpose of attacking or fighting with Taliban is lost and it is dubious in fact. It also raises a question on the bias foreign policy towards different countries. Americans and the European are worried too much about the human rights in China and North Korea but they are implementing these worse possible laws in one country. It is a shame.
